SCHOOL FOR TRAINING ON HYDROPONICS AND SOILLESS
Ageon Srl has been dealing with soilless for 30 years and following years of experience in training growers and greenhouse technical staff in 2020 it established the first International Hydroponic and Soilless School (SITIF) curated by AgeonTech.
The courses held by the technical director Dr. Vitangelo Di Pierro and his fellow AgeonTech consultants, are held in the classroom at the Ageon headquarters in Borgo San Dalmazzo (CN), in the form of video lessons and also in situ at the premises and greenhouses of the client companies. SITIF aims not so much to provide pure theoretical notions, but to give a solid basis for practically approaching this sector and train figures capable of having mastery and autonomy in the management and operation of soilless crops in a protected environment.
The lessons are divided into modules (see list in the table) which can be appropriately chosen by the students/clients according to their own interests. The courses can be both individual and group based on the turnout and the specific requests of the individual modules. We also organize courses on behalf of individual companies with a personalized training plan.
SITIF issues the student a certificate of attendance and, at the request of the client company, can provide an additional final exam with the attribution of a grade.
In order to provide a small taste of the content of the educational modules, you can connect to our YouTube channel to view the video “Greenhouse Technology_Macfrut 2020_Vitangelo Di Pierro_The irrigation strategy in soilless crops” in particular from minute 5:04 onwards.

When are the classes?
Lesson Schedule: In case of individual student interest in a particular didactic module, it is possible to agree on a date to hold the course privately “face-to-face” (in person or videoconference); in case of interest of multiple students in the same didactic module, we will propose a single date to hold the course. As long as the Coronavirus emergency persists, group lessons will be held via webinar in videoconference.
In order to group the requests for individual didactic modules, please reply to this email commerciale@ageon.it indicating:
- First and last name
- Company (optional)
- City
- Mobile phone number
- Preferred days of the week to attend the course
- Didactic modules of interest (indicate only the number as per attached table)
How can I register?
Registration: Always open for both in-person and online lessons.
Do I have any prerequisites to take the course?
Requirements: The lessons are intended for everyone, there are no particular constraints. Given the agronomic nature of the topics covered in the courses, logically those who have already studied at Agricultural Institutes or at Faculties of Agriculture are more advantaged in learning. However, the contents of the courses have a very pragmatic approach, therefore anyone who approaches the management of out-of-soil/hydroponic crops and vertical farms with interest can attend the courses, also thanks to the fact that during the presentation it will be possible to ask the speaker questions that will be answered during the course itself.
How many modules do I have to follow?
Didactic modules: There is no minimum number of modules to follow, each student can choose the module/s or course/s of their interest in the case of private “face-to-face” lessons. In the case of organizing courses with pre-established dates and modules, there will be the possibility to choose one or more modules to follow according to the preferences of each student.
Are there practical lessons?
Exercises: During the presentation of some modules, exercises are planned that can be held both in person and in videoconference.
Can I have training on other topics not covered in the existing modules?
Extra modules: The SITIF training offer is constantly being updated therefore, in addition to the list of modules attached, it is possible to request SITIF to organize thematic courses on topics not included in the list of standard lessons. SITIF will evaluate the requests on a case-by-case basis and will provide answers to individual applicants to indicate the feasibility and related costs.
