Planted on floating panels, the plants grow naturally without the need for operator intervention.

AQUEOUS EXTRACT: Aqueous extraction is a method of extracting active ingredients from plant matrices that uses water as a solvent. It is a method suitable for extracting water-soluble phyto-components, for example polyphenols.

In the aqueous extraction process there are numerous variables that can be modified to favor and optimize the enrichment of an aqueous extract in terms of particular desired active ingredients. The temperature and duration of the extraction are two examples.

COMPLEX FERTILIZERS: fertilizers are technical means, used in agriculture and gardening, which make it possible to create, restore, preserve or increase the fertility of the soil. Among the complexed fertilizers that Ageon proposes, lignosulfonates are recommended for root and foliar treatments. Lignosulfonates are compounds that derive from the sulfonation of lignin, a natural polymer extracted from trees, a natural and RENEWABLE resource.

Their function is to “complex” inorganic ions (eg microelements), canceling their charges, which can thus enter the leaf and offer farmers a natural and biodegradable COMPLEXING AGENT.

COCONUT FIBER: coconut fiber comes from the mesocarp of the nut of the plant itself, from the fibrous shell of the nut, which is a waste product. The mesocarp must be treated through a particular process: in the first phase the mesocarps are collected, transported to the factory and immersed in vats full of water to be softened and prepared for subsequent processing. Once this operation has been completed, the casings are conveyed to a sort of hammer mill: it is a system that simply crushes the mesocarps, without grinding them, thus obtaining a series of by-products, including long fibers. Once these fibers have been removed, what remains is a pile of residues formed essentially of medullary tissue (or dust), short and medium fibers and other material, all of a lower quality, not long enough to be destined for the production of ropes and mats.

At this point the process involves sieving the material by means of a rotating sieve to separate most of the residual fiber from the powder, thus obtaining a product that is generally referred to as “coir dust”, ie coconut fiber in powder.

After sieving, the latter is dried (up to 25% humidity) and packaged in bags and shipped to its destination or compacted into briquettes or compressed loaves. Coir, also called “coir or coir dust”, has recently appeared in horticulture and floriculture and for soilless cultivation. This material can be used alone or in mixture.

FLOATING SYSTEM: The Floating system is a cultivation system that does not use the soil as a cultivation layer, but only water enriched with nutritional solutions. In the tanks, on the water (containing the nutritional elements), high-density polystyrene honeycomb containers float, with holes, which act as a support for the plants in cultivation. In these panels, in order to practice direct sowing of the crop, the troco-conical section holes are filled with a mix of substrates that will host the seed. For transplanting, on the other hand, panels with holes of various sizes and adequately spaced are used, placing the seedlings, bulbs or seed cubes using a substrate.

ABOVE GROUND: The term soilless is a group of various cultivation techniques linked together, from the breeding of plants without the aid of the soil, to the water and mineral supply of the plant entirely through the nutritional solution provided. Soilless can be divided into two main categories:

CULTIVATION ON SUBSTRATE: the substrate used mainly has the function of anchoring the plant, maintaining the availability of the nutrient solution for the root system and containing the roots.
CULTIVATION WITHOUT SUBSTRATE: the plant keeps the roots directly immersed in the nutrient solution, using different methods: floating system (on floating panels) and NTF (Nutrient Film Technique) aeroponic.

CULTIVATION HOOKS: steel supports that allow the plant to grow vertically and support the weight of the fruit. Various hook sizes, colors, material and customizable wire length are available.

HYDROPONICS: soilless cultivation technique. The earth is replaced by an inert substrate. The plant is irrigated with a nutrient solution composed of water and compounds necessary to provide all the essential elements for normal mineral nutrition.

Hydroponics allows controlled productions from both a qualitative and a hygienic-sanitary point of view throughout the year.

INSIGHT MANAGER: personnel management software that offers companies the ability to monitor the progress of work both in the greenhouse and outside, packaging procedures, administrative work and more. It is a support and monitoring system for work procedures that allows you to have an accurate picture in real time on any problems encountered in the greenhouse by employees. Usable by fixed and mobile terminals. Easily customizable according to customer needs.

IRRIGATION: Irrigation, in agronomy, is one of the main cultivation operations that has different purposes according to the environmental and operational context. In the most common cases, this technique is identified with humectant irrigation. In soilless cultivations, the frequency, duration and time of administration of irrigations play a predominant role in determining the supply of water and the replacement of nutrients near the root, not only but by acting on them it is also possible to modify the EC and the humidity of the substrate and therefore to direct the development of the plant in a vegetative or generative sense.

ROCK WOOL: it is a material obtained from the fusion at 1600 degrees of Diabase, a volcanic stone found in nature, in large quantities.

This natural and inert product constitutes the perfect base for the creation of a substrate suitable for the cultivation of all the species of greatest interest for the fruit and vegetable sector, floriculture, vertical gardens and cultivation of sprouts for catering. The results are excellent and due to the growing conditions it ensures: controlled humidity and pH. It allows you to save time, water and nutrients thanks to an excellent initial saturation, a better use of the substrate volume and a greater distribution of the roots.

CULTIVATION SHEETS: high efficiency substrates composed of different materials, depending on the customer’s needs. Ageon offers coconut-based or rock wool cultivation plates. The choice of a slab depends on many factors, in particular on the irrigation strategy and on the technique and experience of the grower.

LED LAMPS: lamps that significantly stimulate plant cultivation, providing specific spectra, specifically designed for different plant species, lower energy consumption (about 40% less HPS with the same lighting power), low heat development during operation and long lamp life.

APICAL ROT: it is caused by a set of conditions that lead the plant to a bad or partial absorption of calcium, conditions attributable to uneven irrigation and with high volumes of water, little availability of calcium in the soil, excess fertilization based on nitrogen and also potassium. It is also favored by high temperatures and accentuated plant transpiration.

MICROELEMENTS: The microelements (or trace elements) are so named as they are absorbed by the plants in very small quantities compared to those of the macro- and mesoelements. However, they have a very significant importance in the physiology of plant organisms, playing the role of catalysts of many vital functions and entering the constitution of some enzymes and coenzymes.

Their deficiency therefore leads to metabolic disturbances that affect the growth of plants or the functionality of some of their organs. With the microelements of the Ageon line, it is possible to produce any type of solution taking into account both the available water and the cultivated variety and its stage of development.

LIQUID MANGANESE: manganese sulphate based fertilizer solution. Indicated for the prevention and treatment of manganese deficiencies, through radical interventions.

They can be applied on all types of roofing: glass, soft plastic material (polyethylene tunnel) and rigid (acrylic, polycarbonate, PVC) for the period necessary for the cultivation.

The choice of the type of shading must be carried out according to the real needs of the plants that will be under cultivated.

Mulching: Mulching is an operation carried out in agriculture and gardening that is carried out by covering the soil with a layer of material, in order to prevent the growth of weeds, maintain moisture in the soil, protect the soil from erosion, from action of driving rain, avoiding the formation of the so-called surface crust, reducing compaction, maintaining the structure and mitigating the soil temperature.

We also organize courses on behalf of individual companies with a personalized training plan.

GREENHOUSE TECHNOLOGY: highly efficient hydroponic greenhouse in which the controlled agronomic development of horticultural and horticultural crops is supported by innovative technologies to stimulate the growth and development of plants and results in: heating of both the air and the root zone, forced ventilation , cooling and humidification systems, light conditioning (through artificial lighting and shading systems) carbon enrichment.

NUTRITIONAL SOLUTION: The nutritional solution is the means through which the plant nourishes itself, all the elements it needs to grow must be present inside it, in a balanced way, in the right quantity and in a correct ratio, which satisfies its needs with respect to at the phenological stage. The nutrient solution consists of water with the addition of pure mineral salts, for food use. In hydroponics, the mineral form of the fertilizer allows it to be rapidly absorbed by the roots and keeps the solution clean inside the tank.

SUBSTRATE: the term cultivation substrate means (… a more or less inert solid medium that has a double function: the first, to anchor and support the roots, protecting them from light and allowing them to breathe and, the second, to retain and contain the water and nutrients that plants need …).

The use of substrates, into which the nutrient solution is introduced, is essential for cultivation in containers or with soilless systems.

To date, the materials on the market that can be used as an “alternative ground” are numerous and with very different technical characteristics and costs. Despite this, there is no single material or mix of materials that can serve, universally, the different cultivated species and the different cultivation techniques.
